Inspired by a B. Traven’s novel – pseudonym of a 20 th century writer whose identity remains unknown -, in which the protagonist Andrès Ugalde is a cart driver in early 20 th century Mexico, the movie depicts his contemporaries, truck drivers for a small transport company in Europe. Stuck in a race for profit, today’s “Andrès” live in an exhausting system that, over time, contributes to undermine the physical health of those who work by being continuously on the road. The documentary follows each truck driver, alternating between them with their own story to tell, from when they receive their deliveries at the company offices to the time they embark on their solitary journeys, while a female voiceover reads excerpts from Traven’s book.
