IL CINEMA PER I DIRITTI DI CHI LAVORA
The opening movie of the third edition of Job Film Days, Working Class Heroes, belongs to the Eastern Europe section: a programmatic choice since, even within the differences that distinguish individual nations and their policies, Eastern Europe presents a complex work situation. Some countries have experienced an industrialization as rapid as the opposite process of divesting numerous factories. Other nations instead present a wide social gap and manifest clear class disparities. There are also States where civil and social rights are not always guaranteed, especially for the poorest sections of the population and in which practicing certain trades and professions becomes a political stance as well.
Through four movies from different countries – which will be screened at the Greenwich Cinema at 18.30 – this section aims to show many particular situations that reflect as many realities. Two movies in particular are dedicated to Advocacy and the Judiciary system, with their difficulties operating in certain contexts where violations of basic human rights are enforced by governments themselves. On the other hand, the personal and collective difficulties in dealing with economic and working changes that are as sudden as dramatic are narrated.
