Ján Kuciak is 27 years old when is found dead with his girlfriend Martina Ku?nírová at home. The brutal homicide triggers strong reactions in all Slovakia while Ján’s colleagues are mobilized to discover the truth. When a secret dossier is leaked, connivances are revealed between the government, police and judicial system with the controversial businessman Marian Kocner. He was suspected and then tried as instigator of the murder of the young journalist, who was investigating his trafficking. The case became a political case.
Matt Sarnecki (Chicago, Usa) grew up in Los Angeles and at 17 years old he moved to New York to attend Columbia University. He graduated in political science and history. After some experiences in Romania and Czech Republic, he came back to New York in 2007 where he began to create documentaries and worked for television channels. In 2011 he moved to San Francisco and graduated in journalism at Berkeley University. Journalist, producer and documentary director, with The Killing of a Journalist Sarnecki created his first film for the cinema.
