The selection presents Stéphane Brizé’s movies dedicated to the themes of work trade union struggles and is part of the complete retrospective about the French director organized by Job Film Days in collaboration with the National Museum of Cinema, which will be scheduled at the Cinema Massimo during the month of September. Through movies such as The Measure of a Man, At War and the latest one Un autre monde, all masterfully performed by Vincent Lindon, Brizé confirms himself as the author of a cinema that is extremely attentive to today?s issues. It is a political, courageous cinema that tackles the contradictions, violence and tensions of the world we live in using narratives that ask direct, lucid and honest questions like few others can. Stéphane Brizé will be a guest through the festival. He will also be the protagonist of a masterclass open to the public, which can be booked starting on September 13th.
Stéphane Brizé (Renne, France, 1966), after studying electronics he started working as a technician for cinema and television. He then moved to Paris and approached the world of dramatic arts and theater until he debuted with his short film Bleu dommage in 1993, which won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Festival?s Quinzaine des Réalisateurs. In 2009 he started his partnership with Vincent Lindon, which continues to this day, with Mademoiselle Chambon (winner of the César Award for best adaptation). Lindon has been entrusted with the starring role for all his films that focus on the world of work with memorable productions such as The Measure of a Man (2015) and At War (2018), both in competition at the Cannes Festival. It is because of his interpretation in At War that he won Best Actor at both Cannes and César Awards.
