Ever since the right-wing Law and Justice (PiS) party came to power in Poland, it began a discrediting campaign against the Judiciary system, one so systematic that judges risk being suspended or even arrested if they make decisions that are unfavorable for the government. A protest and opposition movement has been organized under the leadership of magistrate Igor Tuleya. This film talks about his and his colleagues’ battle in defense of their work.

Kacper Lisowski (Warsaw, Poland, 1972) graduated from both the Leon Schiller National School of Cinema, Television and Theater in Lódz and the Wajda School. He has worked as a cameraman and director of photography in Poland and abroad, making, among other things, I’m Looking at You, Mary (Patrze na Ciebie, Marysiu, 1999) by Lukasz Barczyk. Since 2007 Lisowski has also worked as a television director and in 2014 he signed the short film Father’s. Judges Under Pressure, presented at IDFA, is his first feature film.

Filmography: Father’s Day (2014, sf), Sedziowie pod presja (Judges Under Pressure, 2021, doc)
