A story made of listening, of instants collected daily in placement centers in northern Turin and southern Turin. Stories intertwined in a stream that transforms a place aimed at the search for a job in a place essential to create a project of life. In such a perspective, the public office becomes the setting to frame a face, to listen to a foreign language, to grasp vulnerabilities, to restore space and presence. Placement centers present themselves as hubs for projects that create new life possibilities and can support people in rethinking their career path or strengthening their personal skills. In the end, what emerges is a dual portrait in which the people who turn to the placement centers and the staff of the regional institution both discover something about each other: the boundary is represented by the desk, the resume, the job interview, but within there is the power of encounter and human relationships, the expertise of a complex and invaluable job.

Matteo Bellizzi , student of documentary school “I Cammelli” by Daniele Segre, has been active in photography since 1997. In 2003 he directed the documentary Sorriso amaro , with which he participated at the 60th edition of Venice Film Festival “Nuovi Territori” (New Territories). That same year he was selected, as the only Italian documentary, for the Documentary Forthnight exhibition at New York MoMA – Museum of Modern Art. In 2015 he made the documentary A sud di Pavese , presented at the 33rd edition of Turin Film Festival and up for the David di Donatello Award in 2016. As part of the Job Film Days’ Job Film Stories section and in collaboration with Agenzia Piemonte Lavoro, in 2024 he made two movies to narrate the world of Agenzia Piemonte Lavoro and its activities in providing services for work: Iolavoro and Worldskills: lavorare per vincere . These two movies suggest an “inner” viewpoint to give back to the audience the different paths of those looking for a job, those who have lost it and those who are learning it, as well as the experience of under 25 youths participating at the “WorldSkills International” world championship.
