Every day at sunrise Alma, Chailly, Elias, Sarah and Abdul cross l’Île-de-France to reach the vocational hospitality school where they study. After leaving their everyday clothes in their lockers, they don the impeccable uniforms required to enter a world where every gesture counts, each inclination is investigated, every detail is part of the learning process.

Shot in “Jean Drouant” high school, in the heart of Paris’ XVII arrondissement, the movie follows the students and the teachers during a year with a fast-paced rhythm. The courses are hard, the professors are strict, the students apply themselves while still finding time to joke around. Second Course – in its Italian premier at the festival – accompany the students until the graduation day and describes the personalities hidden behind the uniform, caught between ironclad rules and the desire for emancipation.

Julie Talon.Trained as a director of photography, she discovered documentary filmmaking thanks to Jean-Henri Roger, who supported her in writing her debut film Baiser certain, selected in 1999 for the Cinéma du réel festival in Paris and subsequently broadcast on Canal+. In 2016, she made her feature film debut with Laetitia.
