After losing her job at the sewing factory, the last chance for Teresa to have a decent life seems to be joining her two children in the United States and dedicating the rest of her life to taking care of her grandkids. When she finds a stain resembling Virgin Mary on her wall, she believes her fortune is about to change.

Fanie Soto (Mexico, 1988) is a screenwriter with a Degree in Audiovisual Arts at the Department of Image and Sound of the University of Guadalajara. In 2018 she won the first prize at the 13 th national screenwriting competition for female authors and film adapters “Matilde Landeta A.C.” with the screenplay of Cosas imposibles by Ernesto Contreras. In 2022 she was a jury member for the national scriptwriting support contest of the Mexican Film Institute and other student film festivals. She is currently collaborating at different projects for movies and streaming platforms. Patrona is her first movie as a director.
