Prescription For Life is dedicated to rural doctors, the nerve endings of the Chinese healthcare system. Hu Liping grew up in a land covered by rapeseed flowers. She is a rural doctor and also mother of two children. In 2022, she was diagnosed with cancer. After an intense battle against death, she survives. She gains a deeper knowledge of the village inhabitants who seek her help. Here she writes her “prescription for life”. The movie documents Hu Liping’s life as a doctor, mother and patient, passing on the power of human warmth.

Zhu Chenxi (China, 1996), also known as Cissy, dreamt to become a doctor since she was a child, determined to cure the sick. However, growing up, her passion for cinema became stronger and she realized that people needed not only physical healing, but also emotional healing. This awareness fed her dream to create a feminist medical documentary with women as protagonists.
