Two women. Two distant places (one sunny and warm, the other grey and cold), yet close anyway, both places of sea and fishing (Apulia and the Arctic Ocean) and united by two female figures who don’t know each other and never meet, who out of love chose to become fisherwomen in a male-dominated world and workplace, challenging the rules of an environment still deeply patriarchal.  

In Gallipoli, Antonia belongs to a family that, in the nineties, lost two relatives because of a fishing sinking. In Norway, Sandra is a politically engaged Sami whose choice to skip a fishing boat, thereby demonstrating her independence, it?s going to have serious consequences on her life. She will indeed lose her daughter’s custody. 

Private and public intertwine in the two women’s portraits which become the portrait of two countries, two cultures, in a movie that covers a seven-year time span. 

Brunella Filì. Director, documentarist, producer. After the classic studies, she graduated in Communication studies with a master’s degree in film studies from the University of Bologna. Before starting her film making career, she attended direction, screenwriting, photography and production workshops. In 2013, she founded the independent film production company OffiCinema DOC. In 2014, the urgent need to capture the present reality of her generation led her to direct her first feature-length documentary, Emergency Exit – Young Italians Abroad .
