A Swiss-Cameroonian study titled “Kick it like a girl!” revealed the complex reality of women’s football in Cameroon, where thousands of girls practice this sport. The professionalization of women footballers began in 2019, but only a few can support themselves through playing alone. Securing a contract abroad is the ultimate hope of every player. Kevine, 25 years old, and Fortune, 22 years old, are two of them and the protagonists of the movie with the same name, which will have its Italian premiere at the festival. Inseparable friends, they both play in the same team in Yaoundé. They train restlessly and dream about being signed by a European club and getting selected for the Cameroon national team. Despite such precariousness, families and friends who do not support them, the half-empty stadiums, the lack of equipment, Kevin and Fortune are determined to achieve their long-cherished dream.
