Strikes, picket lines, marches, struggles and protests, the March of the Forty Thousand, but also building sites and assembly lines, familiar and unknown faces, large factories and small workshops, social clubs and leisure: the news images of great photojournalists have created an invaluable archive of living material documenting sixty years of working life in Turin. They chart its journey from the factory city shaped by migration, through a retreat from collective political engagement, to its difficult transformation towards a […]

Guided tour of Fabbrica delle “e” and presentation of Pietro Perotti’s book “I cessi di Mirafiori. Azioni e fotografie” di Pietro Perotti Saturday 3 October, 6 p.m., Libreria Binaria, Via Sestriere, 34 In collaboration with Binaria Centro Commensale and Gruppo Abele. On Saturday 3 October at 6 p.m., Job Film Days, in collaboration with Binaria Centro Commensale and Gruppo Abele, presents a two-part event: a guided tour of Fabbrica delle “e” and the presentation of Pietro Perotti’s book “I cessi di Mirafiori. Azioni e fotografie”. The “Fabbrica”, now home to Gruppo Abele, occupies a former industrial building that housed Cimat (Costruzioni Italiane Macchine Attrezzi Torino), part of Fiat’s supply chain, until the mid-1970s. Its interior structures, generous spaces, restored and brightly coloured overhead cranes, and conference rooms all named “officine” or “botteghe” – workshops – provide daily reminders of the building’s origins. The “e” in its name, Italian for “and”, expresses a desire to transform, within these walls, the many – too many – “ors” that divide, label and exclude in everyday life into “ands” that foster encounters, exchanges and paths towards commitment, solidarity and justice. Pietro Perotti’s book continues this “journey into the factory”. A worker at Fiat Mirafiori […]
