Fren works at the Human Resources office of a major company that demands peak efficiency and flexibility. She closely observes people’s lives through interviews with numerous young new hires. Her own existence unfolds in a cycle of work, commuting through Bangkok traffic with her partner, quick sez, silent dinners, breakfast and returning to the office. Each day the situations repeat themselves. Yet nobody knows that Fren is one month pregnant while contemplating whether to bring her child in this harsh world or to have an abortion, an option that’s legal in the country within the first three months of pregnancy.
Human Resources, premiering at the 2025 Venice Film Festival, introduces us to urban Bangkok, its skyscrapers, and its upper-middle class.
