Monday 5 October, 6 p.m., Palazzo della radio-Mediateca Rai, Via Giuseppe Verdi, 31

In collaboration with Rai Teche – “Archive Alive! 10 Years” series.

On Monday 5 October at 6 p.m., two television programmes exploring issues around the employment of women and young people will be screened in the “Dino Villani” room as part of the “Archive Alive! 10 Years” series, offering a comparison across more than forty years.

The programme includes La questione femminile, a landmark investigation directed by Virgilio Sabel and broadcast in the afternoon series Sapere on Programma Nazionale in 1976. The selected episode provides an overview of women’s working conditions in the 1970s, before Law 903 established equal pay and equal access to employment for men and women, prohibiting discrimination in recruitment and career progression.

This is followed by Scialla Italia, a 2022 documentary series in which very young protagonists look at Italy through their own eyes and describe today’s world and the problems they face, in their own frank words and without adult mediation. Here too, the selected episode focuses on young people and work. It is one of ten 25-minute episodes exploring TikTok creators, university students, rappers, influencers and other new forms of work.
