SHORT FILM SELECTION

Event in collaboration with the Order of Labor Consultants of Turin

On Thursday, October 2nd, at 2:30 p.m., Job Film Days, in collaboration with the Turin Association of Labor Consultants , will present three short films at the Order’s headquarters that depict different situations and stories, providing food for thought on the world of work and its critical issues. Last One (Italy, 2025) by Massimiliano Milic , Cleaner (Greece, 2024) by Kostas Gerampinis , and Lees Waxul (Senegal, 2024) by Yoro Mbaye depict three slices of reality in very different geographical contexts, from northeastern Italy to Senegal, passing through Greece, but still united by the theme of work and its reflection on the social role of the individual. 

Event followed by a debate with representatives of the Order.

CLEANER (Greece, 2024, 18′)

Ektoras works as a pest control technician by day. Once a week he visits an association for psychological support after being released from prison. His psychologist notices the signs of his tiredness and invites him to tell her what happened the night before.

Kostas Gerampinis (Greece, 1984) studied Communication and Mass Media Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in Filmmaking in his Master’s degree at the London Film School. He received the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Artist Fellowship, and he is a former student of the Midpoint Series Launch and Canneseries Writers Club. He directed the short films Iceberg , Invisible , Iskioma and Cleaner , selected and awarded in international film festivals. As screenwriter, he followed numerous short films, long feature films and TV series, The Beach and The Bridge among them. He is currently working on his movies Five Murders Without a Cause and The Interpreter.

In a village running low on bread, Ousseynou, former fisherman and the cornerstone of his family, finds a modest economic stability selling stale bread. The opening of his sister-in-law’s bakery stirs up silent tension between them, threatening his business and his role in the family.

Yoro Mbaye (Senegal, 1992) is a director and producer who narrates contemporary society through his short films and documentaries such as Journée Noire e Famara , selected in international festivals. He also founded the production house Nafi Films, with which he created Lees Waxul and co-produced Dao by Alain Gomis. He is currently working on his first long feature film.

After spending twenty years selling nuclear installations all over the world, Christian goes back to his hometown in northern Italy. In the shadow of his family’s mill, he works as a miller. He is the last artisan in Europe to prepare handmade stockfish, one of the last in his area in Italy.

Massimiliano Milic (Italy, 1989) directs and produces documentaries tackling social themes for the production house Terroir Films. In 2015, he completed his Master’s degree in Filmmaking and Media Arts at the University of Glasgow, making the documentary Drago as his thesis. His next movie, As If There Were No Fires , will explore the impact of wildfires in Italy.
