A cobalt fragment crosses the world, bringing along the lives of the people who extracted it. The short film shows the hard work in mines and the human cost hidden behind the technology we use every day.

Francois Knoetze (South Africa, 1989) is a sculptor, performer and video artist. Amy Louise Wilson (USA, 1973) is a writer and actress, interested in traditional South African theatre practices in terms of research methodology and experimentation. At the core of their work lies the commitment to work with the youth in research-creation open processes, in order to explore and create space for DIY, collaborative and experimental narration. Their projects investigate the intersections among local contexts, extractive economy and global technological systems using a lo-fi aesthetic to expose high-risk realities.
