Fernando, a Peruvian single father, sits in an audio recording room with his son Dylan. Together they dub in Quechua, their mother tongue, foreign animated movies to allow people who don’t know Spanish an access to knowledge without feeling discriminated against. This is a matter of profession and a mission to Fernando. In his hometown Cuzco, he uses his online platform to create content in Quechua to preserve Peru’s second official language and keep it from being forgotten. With Dylan’s help, he is now determined to dub The Lion King , contacting Disney to obtain permission. What started as a hobby is now a challenge and a cultural and social commitment. This movie won the ILO-Cinetrab Award for Best Documentary at the 2025 edition of Festival de Cine of Lima.

Augusto Zegarra (Lima, 1988) graduated in Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Utah. In 2012 he participated in Sundance New Directors/New Screenwriters Lab. In 2017 he also started his research for Runa Simi, a movie for which he received the Albert Maysles Award as Best New Documentary Director at Tribeca Film Festival 2025 ? where Runa Simi also premiered globally.
